Drove Lane, Yapton

A planning application for Land at South West Yapton has been classified as a ‘Strategic Site’ by Arun District Council. The area extends to approximately 12.4 ha / 30.6 acresand JBA were appointed in 2019 to provide the ecological, arb and landscape design services, including LVIA and review of the Design Code through to masterplanning, detailed design and implementation.

The design followed principles set out in the Design Code and the design development involved a close liaison with the LPA’s landscape officer as well as extensive discussions with the LPA’s drainage and engineering services to agree the landscape provision to the SuDS and ditches that would meet the technical approval without compromising on the vision and quality set out in the Design Code.

Part of the Design Code included a number of overarching strategic elements, including green corridors which were designed as multifunctional spaces. They served as tree lined retained vistas through the site to create permeability with views out of the site, ecological links and biodiversity enhancement, surface water management and access and circulation routes for cycling and pedestrians. The proposals included a number of LAPs, LEAPs and areas of informal natural play such as mounds and play safe trim trail elements, developped in close liaison with the LPA’s landscape officer.
