JBA Advise on Special Protection Area

East Anglia Group have secured resolution to grant for the proposed redevelopment of Great Yarmouth Marina. This new development will provide, amongst other things, residential dwellings, residential moorings, visitor moorings and one mooring specifically for the Broads Authority’s use.

James Blake Associates were appointed by East Anglia Group to provide expert advice on landscape, arboriculture and ecology matters given the site’s sensitive location adjacent to the River Bure, a Special Protection Area, and on the edge of The Broads National Park. We provided the key Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment, Landscape Masterplan, Arboricultural Impact Assessment, Tree Removal and Protection Plans, Phase 1 Ecological Survey and Protected Species Surveys.

The committee report states that the scheme is “considered to be a welcome, well thought out and positive scheme for the redevelopment of a poor quality, derelict site in an important and prominent location seen as a gateway to Yarmouth and the Broads”. James Blake Associates were delighted to be involved in the scheme’s planning success, and look forward to seeing its implementation.
