Paul holds a first-class BSc Honours degree in Animal Biology and Conservation from Staffordshire University and brings over a decade of professional experience as an ecologist. He has worked extensively within the planning arena, supporting clients such as Bellway Homes, Barrett David Wilson, and Redrow Plc, as well as serving major utility and infrastructure clients like Cadent Gas, Southern Water, and Network Rail. His breadth of experience ensures a practical and insightful approach to navigating ecological challenges.
Paul is proficient in a range of protected species survey methodologies. He holds a Natural England Class 1 Bat Licence and a Level 1 Great Crested Newt (GCN) Survey Licence, alongside certification as a barn owl surveyor. With expertise spanning preliminary ecological assessments to detailed ecological impact assessments, Paul is adept at helping clients meet complex requirements, including Biodiversity Net Gain regulations.
Paul particularly enjoys conducting bird surveys and takes pride in mentoring and supporting his team to grow their skills and expertise. He is dedicated to fostering strong, trusted relationships with clients and colleagues alike, always aiming to deliver balanced and effective solutions. In his spare time, Paul enjoys travelling and discovering new destinations on the odd cruise ship and time spent with his family, including his crazy tabby cat, Harley.
