Queen’s Hill, Costessey
A design scheme which included Public Open Spaces (POS) and community sports pitches was implemented for the large residential development, Queens Hill near Norwich.
Public Open Spaces were designed to create areas where people and wildlife could connect, through the planting of wildflower meadows and the use of natural materials for play equipment such as rocks and logs. Equipped play areas were spacious and designed with various modern equipment.
A population of reptiles were found during ecology surveys on the area designated for the sports pitches, so these were translocated to the adjacent Country Park before development began. Bat boxes were also installed on existing trees in the Country Park to compensate for habitat lost due to the development.
